a new poem

written for Burns Night 2012

 Loves middle aged d ream

Man of the year in my eyes

Is the one who explores our starry skies

The prof who's always on the box

The dreamy brainy Brian Cox.

He's been all over planet earth

Explaining Physics for all he's worth

In lancastrian vowels and a drawl

this is a prof who does enthral

He's a man who'll rock your socks

The dreamy brainy Brian cox.

From humble Oldham northern town

To Manchester for cap and gown

Life for Brian could only get better

But he turned away from the life of a jet setter

To set his sights on the sky above

For Astro Physics was his love

He left that band that really rocks

The musical youthful Brian Cox

In cern he spends most his days

That hadron collider holds his gaze

 As little particles it knocks

For dreamy brainy professor Cox.

To see him live we are booking

For Exoplanets we are looking

 In constellations like Orion

All at the behest of sexy Brian

For Women of a certain age

 Stargazing is all the rage

Not just Sirius, or a spiral galaxy

But bright Brian on the bbc

Black holes are such a paradox

But not for brainy Brian Cox

He's no Zaphod Beeblebrox

He doesn't prance about in frocks

Hotter than a kitchen full of woks

delicious as a box of chocs

He made science more fun than a barrel load of ewoks

 That enterprising

 tantalising

awe inspiring

 Brian Cox
